Happening-Distance

Human Relationships and distance
Interactive design / 2022

Concept
Individual relationships are extremely sensitive. Even in a tiny circle, the web of connections can grow quite complicated. This network of links differs from person to person, which adds to the excitement of each person's social circle. I plan to employ lines and dots to bring this occurrence to life with objects in this topic. How does each person's subjective opinion in a small group affect the entire network of relationships?

How should they be demonstrated and expressed?
Lines indicate each person, dots represent each person's intersection spots, and distances represent the subjective sense of how close two people care about one another.
What is the effect of different groups on this network?

Steps
  1. Pick a random spot on the background paper using a pin and tie a knot with thread to keep it in place as a starting point.
  2. The order of operations is determined in a clockwise direction, depending on where you are. Starting with the first person, a knot is tied in the next person's thread for the distance of the relationship that the first person considers.
The closer the relationship, the closer the knot tied is to the person. Conversely, the more common relationship, the closer the knot tied is to the starting point of each person.
  3. After the first round, the second round is to pick any one of the threads and tie a knot with the same rule.
  4. After everyone has tied the knot on everyone's thread, the happening is over.
  5. Remove the pins and use tape to hold the threads in place behind the background paper.
  6. Finally, write your name on the edge of your own line and answer this question.

What does the relationship distance between individuals look like? Any expectations for your future relationships? Do you want to say something to your friends?
