6. Evolution of Chinese Characters

/
A multi-platform media project designed by studying the cultural aesthetics as well as the meaning of Chinese characters. Combining the use of modern technology and the extension and adaptability of Chinese character culture, the project then uses 3D printing capabilities to design the expansion of the power of Chinese characters in architectural and spatial directions.

I chose the evolution of Chinese characters as the narrative theme for this project in order to demonstrate the process of Chinese character evolution and message transmission through various platforms and media.
The exercise section, the main database, and two components make up the entire project.

Past-Web Design
I spent more time experimenting with different forms of web design and content arrangement during the assignment. I devoted more care to the color scheme because I didn't want the entire page to look too instructional. In addition, when deciding how to depict the entire progression of Chinese characters, I created various potential wireframes and layouts.
I adopted a more vintage color palette for the final version of the web design, as well as reselected the presentation and content characteristics. All of the material regarding the evolution of Chinese characters has been divided into various chapters, each with its own interface. The entire page has become more interactive, informational, and narrative in nature.

Now-WebVR
I decided to make webVR for the initial component. Rather than online design, I prefer to think of this phase as the second phase of Chinese character evolution' today. The webpage presents content that is more akin to what people learnt in the past, so it is Past, but the Chinese characters in life now have both a feeling of history and the allure of current society. It is a diversified art system, not just a culture. As a result, I chose abstract design to demonstrate the endless potential of Chinese letters in the future with VR.

Future-AR
The second component I opted to make was in augmented reality, which, as a new technology, is ideal for presenting the concept of Chinese character design in the future. But, unlike in the past, I believe that Chinese characters' future will be more technological and abstract. People will be able to employ Chinese characters not only in the traditional sense, but also in more artistic ways. As a result, I used Nomad to build various fictitious Chinese character sculptures that can be utilised in future ornamental or architectural designs.
